The situation for civilians in Kherson and the surrounding region is becoming increasingly alarming. Russian forces are reportedly dropping aerial bombs on residential buildings, with footage of the strikes circulating online. The attacks target civilian infrastructure, heightening risks for local residents as the security situation continues to deteriorate.

Ukrainian forces carried out overnight strikes on two Shahed drone launch bases in Russia’s Bryansk and Kursk regions, targeting the Navlya and Khalino airfields, according to the commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces. The operation also reportedly destroyed a radar from an S-400 air defense system in Feodosia, a Tor air defense system, and multiple military facilities, including command posts, logistics points, and ammunition depots.

Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces and military intelligence units carried out a strike on the Kirovske airfield in Crimea on April 2, 2026. The attack targeted a base and pre-flight preparation site for Orion heavy strike-reconnaissance UAVs near Krasnosilske. Four Orion drones were confirmed destroyed. A transport aircraft An-72P and a P-37 “Mech” radar system were also reported destroyed at the site. The strike was carried out using Ukrainian-made FP-2 middle-strike drones with warheads weighing 60–100 kg.

Drones from the 225th Separate Assault Regiment freed two Ukrainian prisoners captured by Russian forces. Using only FPV drones and without infantry involvement, operators struck the escorting soldier. As the first drone approached, the captor panicked and failed to use the prisoners as cover, making a fatal decision. The operation was carried out in coordination with the 108th Brigade and other Ukrainian Defense Forces units.
