The joint operation by the SBU’s 13th Directorate and the Ukrainian Navy caused critical damage: powerful explosions hit the stern, and the vessel was reportedly left disabled. The tanker, valued at about $30 million, typically transported up to $60 million worth of oil products per voyage. Due to carrying Russian crude with its identification systems turned off, Dashan had previously been sanctioned by the EU, UK, Canada, Australia, and Switzerland.
