Ukrainian FPV interceptor drones P1-SUN have been adapted for air launch from An-28 aircraft to improve effectiveness against enemy UAVs. The method has already demonstrated positive results during testing. Several other interceptor drone types were also evaluated, including the American Merops system. The approach aims to expand interception range and enhance aerial defense capabilities.
Fighters of the 59th Separate Assault Brigade “Predators of Heights” shot down a Russian Kamov Ka-52 using an FPV drone on the Pokrovsk direction. This marks the third confirmed case of a drone destroying a manned aircraft mid-air. Footage shows the helicopter crashing and burning out in a field.
In this footage, the crew of an An-28 aircraft engages and destroys a Russian Shahed kamikaze drone in dramatic fashion. Under laser guidance, the gunner tracks the target and opens fire with a minigun, shredding the UAV in mid-air.
The operation was carried out by the Finnish Border Guard with support from police and the National Bureau of Investigation. The ship was towed to the port of Kantvik, and 14 crew members were detained for questioning.
This is archived footage from a special operation conducted in late October 2025 on the Pokrovsk axis by fighters of the Black Winter Group, part of Tymur’s Special Unit of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (HUR). During the mission, several special forces groups were airlifted by Black Hawk helicopters and landed on the western outskirts of Pokrovsk, dispersing across the industrial zone. “We managed to gain precious time so that the main units of the Armed Forces could approach the city with reinforcements. After that, everyone stopped saying the city had been taken,” said HUR Chief Kyrylo Budanov, commenting on the operation.
