Pilots of the SIGNUM unit continued night operations in the Lyman direction, targeting enemy movement and infrastructure. A Russian vehicle attempting to reach positions under cover of darkness was detected and hit by a fiber-optic FPV drone. Subsequent strikes targeted individual infantry, a communications antenna, a concealed shelter, and a utility vehicle, disrupting coordination and mobility of enemy forces in the area.
Ukrainian Special Operations Forces conducted a series of drone strikes over the past week, targeting enemy arsenals, warehouses, and logistics hubs in occupied areas of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. The targets were located along a key supply route used by Russian forces to connect mainland Russia with Crimea and transport troops, equipment, and supplies. In Mykilske, Makedonivka, and Markove near Mariupol, SOF middle-strike units hit three arsenals, three supply depots, and two logistics hubs. Additional strikes targeted a repair base and a command location in Hamivka, Zaporizhzhia region, as well as a rear support area in Pryazovske. In the settlement of Terpinnia, located along a branch of the same route toward Tokmak, Ukrainian drones struck a material supply depot and another logistics hub used by enemy forces.
Border guards of Ukraine’s Forpost Brigade are intercepting enemy drones on the Southern Slobozhanskyi axis.
The footage highlights the unit’s ongoing work to detect, track, and neutralize hostile UAVs, helping protect Ukrainian positions from aerial surveillance and attack.
Near Myropillia in the Sumy region, fighters of the 21st Brigade repelled a Russian assault involving three armored vehicles. The attack was stopped by precise Ukrainian drone strikes. The assault failed, and Russian forces withdrew with losses.
A Ukrainian FPV drone strike destroyed a Russian TOS-1A “Solntsepyok” heavy flamethrower system in the Zaporizhzhia region. The hit triggered a powerful explosion, likely caused by the detonation of onboard munitions, resulting in the complete loss of the system.
Demonstration footage shows the Mark I anti-drone missile, developed by Estonia’s Frankenburg Technologies, during a live-fire event. The missile is designed to intercept aerial targets at ranges of up to 2 km and altitudes of around 1.5 km, using an electro-optical seeker and solid-fuel propulsion for rapid interception.
Frankenburg and Poland’s state-owned PGZ announced a production partnership in Poland for the Mark I system, with planned capacity of up to 10,000 missiles per year.
Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces achieved a world-first by intercepting a Shahed-type drone using a STING interceptor launched from a surface platform. The operation was carried out by a division of unmanned surface systems within the 412th Nemesis Brigade. The successful engagement highlights a new approach to countering aerial threats using surface-launched interceptor drones. Ukrainian units indicate that further developments are underway, with plans to integrate STING launches from unmanned surface vessels as a routine capability.
Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces struck a logistics base of the secretive Russian drone unit “Rubicon” in occupied Mangush, Donetsk region, on the night of April 17. The operation was carried out by SOF middle-strike drone units, with explosions and large fires reported at the site. “Rubicon” is known for deploying a wide range of Russian unmanned systems against Ukrainian forces, including FPV drones (both standard and fiber-optic), strike drones such as Molniya and Lancet, as well as reconnaissance UAVs like ZALA, Orlan, and SuperCam, along with naval drones.
According to released battlefield reports and footage, Ukrainian strike units carried out a series of coordinated attacks in a single day against Russian military targets in occupied Crimea, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions. The reported targets included air defense systems such as Pantsir-S1, Osa-AK, and Buk-M1, as well as two reported Iskander missile support sites, fuel storage facilities, and an ammunition depot linked to the 758th Logistics Center of the Black Sea Fleet.
Additional strikes reportedly hit a workshop and UAV storage site associated with the Rubikon unit in Donetsk region. Notably, some of the published strike footage reportedly began specifying the weight of the warhead used, with several clips indicating a 60 kg payload.
Russia launched a mass overnight drone-and-missile attack across Ukraine, with Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipro, and Kharkiv among the hardest-hit cities. Ukrainian officials said Kyiv was struck in four districts, with at least a dozen people killed nationwide, including a 12-year-old child in the capital, while dozens more were wounded. Residential buildings, civilian infrastructure, and non-residential sites were damaged as emergency crews fought fires across multiple locations.
In Kyiv, debris hit a multi-story residential building, and another strike caused a fire on the first floor of a separate apartment building. Odesa reported seven dead and 11 injured in multiple waves of attack, while Dnipro and Kharkiv also suffered casualties and damage to homes, vehicles, and infrastructure. Explosions and strike reports also came from other regions as Russia carried out one of its largest recent aerial assaults on civilian areas.
